On April 11, 2026, our college residents decided to finally close the laptops, ditch the caffeine, and actually touch some grass. We traded our usual Saturday routine for an excursion to one of Hong Kong’s most iconic hiking routes—Dragon’s Back Trail.
The day began with excitement and anticipation as we gathered. We met up with packed backpacks and a collective “we can do this” attitude, but the trail definitely tested us. Between the humid weather and those steep climbs, we sweat and we grind with energy, music, and laughter. Instead of competing, everyone was cheering each other on, turning a tough workout into a team win. There’s something about struggling up a hill together that makes for great bonding.
As we reached the peak, city noise disappeared and scenery was replaced by those famous coastal views and a much-needed breeze. We took a second to breathe, took some photos, ate our packed lunch, and appreciated the fact that we weren’t looking at lecture notes for once. It was a perfect reminder that exercise doesn’t have to feel like a chore at the college gym, as sometimes, it is about the view and the people you are with.
We wrapped up the hike and headed down for a snack session, exchanging stories from the trail and enjoying the simple joy of being together outdoors. The day concluded with a refreshing splash at Big Wave Bay Beach. Some ran to the waters while others rested on the sand; collectively, everyone shared the same sense of relaxation.
This trip wasn’t just about getting some exercise. It was about resetting mentally, strengthening our sense of community, and reminding ourselves that college life is more than exams and assignments. As memories of Dragon’s Back linger, we are already looking forward to the next chance to explore. Any suggestions?
