College 1 is one of the four vibrant residential colleges within the Jockey Club Student Village IV at The University of Hong Kong. Named in recognition of a generous donation from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Village represents a modern and innovative approach to student living. As one of the pioneering projects in Hong Kong to adopt Modular Integrated Construction (MiC), College 1 offers 312 residential places across 17 floors, fostering a dynamic and inclusive community. 

Under the leadership of College Master Professor Sophia Chan, College 1 is committed to creating a nurturing environment that emphasizes community engagement and student well-being — core values that define our ethos. Our motto, “Home away from home,” reflects our dedication to providing a supportive and enriching living experience for all residents. 

Students at College 1 enjoy access to a wide range of shared amenities designed to enhance their academic, social, and personal growth. Students’ residential experience in this Village has been complemented by fruitful and vibrant offering of shared amenities including College Hall, flexible Co-working Space, Student Activities Rooms, Quiet Study Lounges, Discussion Rooms, Prayer’s Room, Fitness and Exercise Room, Laundry Room, outdoor landscape areas and Mindfulness Studio.   

The General Office thoughtfully maintains these facilities to ensure a seamless and enriching residential experience. At College 1, we strive to create a close-knit community where students can thrive academically, socially, and personally, making it a true “Home away from home.”
