Our Values

At the heart of College 1 lies a commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and thriving community, guided by our core values of community work and holistic wellbeing!

College Philosopy

At our College, we embrace a diverse community of local, international, and exchange students, spanning both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We deeply value every resident and believe that everyone has unique strengths to contribute and opportunities to learn from one another.

Our College philosophy is built on two core values: Building a culture of community contribution and promoting student wellbeing.

Building a Culture of Community Contribution : We recognize the importance of community engagement not only as a societal need but also as a growing trend aligned with the sustainability development goals. Our approach goes beyond the educational setting, emphasizing real-world, hands-on application and active involvement in the community. This orientation prepares students to make meaningful contributions to society while fostering a sense of purpose and responsibility.

Promoting Student Wellbeing: Student well-being is central to our philosophy. We define wellbeing holistically, encompassing six key dimensions: social, emotional, spiritual, physical, cognitive, and financial. We believe in the full potential of our residents and are committed to supporting not just their academic growth but their overall development. Through tailored resources and guidance, we aim to help students navigate these dimensions and thrive in all aspects of life.  As the first College to conduct independent research on student wellbeing in residential halls, we demonstrate our dedication to this critical area.

Fostering Leadership: At College 1, we believe leadership is a vital part of the College experience. We are committed to fostering a vibrant community where students have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills through active participation in College life, joining various activity teams, and leading initiatives. Whether one is leading a student activity group, organizing events, or mentoring peers, our supportive environment encourages growth, collaboration, and innovation. The Master and Tutor team are here to enhance the students’ personal development, build lasting connections, and make a positive impact within our dynamic student community.

Our motto, “Home Away from Home,” reflects this commitment. It encapsulates our mission to create a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive environment where students feel valued, empowered, and connected. These principles guide everything we do, ensuring that our College is not just a place to live and learn, but a true home for personal and collective growth.
